Australia Fire Relief Fundraiser

Karrikin and Queen City Radio partner for an Australia fire relief fundraiser Sunday, January 26th. The goal is to raise money for our friends in Australia who’ve been dealing with devastating bush fires across the continent. Focusing on drink specials, entertainment, and raffle items, Rescue the Down Under begins at 2:00pm at Queen City Radio, 222 West 12th Street in Cincinnati. Local Aussie turned Cincinnati resident, Miranda McGee is leading the efforts. Through her hard work, she’s incorporating a variety of donors, sponsors, and guests. Australian rules football, dance troupes, live music, and a drag show are just some of the entertainment you can expect on Sunday.

For Karrikin, involvement in this Australia fire relief fundraiser was a no brainer.

The Karrikin Connection

As a business with a unique name, not a day goes by when we don’t have the chance to talk about the role fire plays in our story.

karrikin represents so much as it relates to the current state of the bush fires in Australia right now. Specifically, as the plants and vegetation around the continent burn, it’s the karrikins, or the compounds found in the smoke from those burning plants — that allow regrowth once the fires subside.

You’ve likely seen the imagery of new vegetation already beginning to sprout up in areas where fires have passed through. This is what we, as a company, represent. Regrowth, relief, and new beginnings.

Sparkling Spirits, Special Cocktails, & Beer

If you’ve been watching the news or checking your social media outlets, you’ve probably seen what to expect at Rescue the Down Under, but here’s a reminder! Our cans of Apple with Shuga rum, and Blueberry with Base vodka will be up for grabs on Sunday, as well as our Pils, which you’ve come to love in the taproom. Additionally, Queen City Radio’s skilled mixologists have come up with aptly named cocktails featuring Base vodka, Shuga rum, and Ora gin like the “Right-O”, “G’day Mate”, and “Bonza”.

Can’t wait to see all of our friends and supporters on Sunday at Queen City Radio!
